2025 10-week pottery course - Deposit/Full payment
Book your space on our new 10 week pottery course where you will learn hand-building, throwing and glazing techniques.
The course will feature a teaching programme where students will be taught a new technique each week for 5 weeks. We will then have 5 further weeks to ‘make what you want’ and further your ceramic knowledge. We can learn more new techniques or practice what has already been taught.
Cost - £300 per person. A non-refundable deposit of £100 is to be paid to confirm your booking. The following £200 can be paid anytime before the first lesson.
Date - workshops run every Wednesday evening for 10 weeks, starting 08.01.25 and will run until the final lesson on 12.03.25.
Time - workshops will be held between 6:30 and 8:30pm every Wednesday.
Materials - all materials will be provided, including clay, glaze and kiln firings. Students will use approx 3 - 5 bags of clay throughout the course. Anything further will be required to be purchased at £15 a bag. The amount of clay provided is plenty for a beginner or intermediate level student.
Location - all workshops will be held at the Charlotte Manser Ceramics Studio, OX129NL. Upon final payment, a pin-drop will be sent to the exact studio location.
Facilities - Our studio contains 10 pottery wheels, handbuilding work benches, a glazing area, a slab roller, an extruder, and many different glazes. Students will not have access to the kilns but work will be fired when dried and weekly kilns will be running.
What to wear - we are in a barn which can get hot when it’s warm out and cold when the weather is chilly. We will have heating by then but are yet to know how good it will be (hopefully amazing).
Dietary Requirements - we can provide hot and cold drinks but if you prefer oat/almond/coconut milk, then please can you bring your own to leave in the fridge!
Deposit - if you choose to no longer attend the course the deposit will not be refunded. If the course is cancelled or rearranged by Charlotte Manser Ceramics Ltd then the deposit will be refunded.
How it’s made
How it’s made
All ceramics are handmade in our pottery studio in Berkshire, UK. The pottery is made in small batches of around 30 pieces and is carefully formed over a two day period. After the pieces have dried for a week, they are then fired to 1000 degrees Celsius in our kiln. We then mix the glazes from powders before dipping and pouring the ceramics to create beautiful glaze patterns. The ceramics is then fired again to 1260 degrees Celsius.
ing traditional craftsmanship with a modern aesthetic, we bring an art form that’s centuries-old into the present day.
At Charlotte Manser Ceramics, we take pride in using renewable materials and practices to minimize our impact on the environment. By choosing to invest in our products, customers not only acquire one-of-a-kind pieces of pottery, but also support a small business with a mission to create a more ethical future.
