Join us at the Charlotte Manser Ceramics Studio for a 4- week (one evening a week) glazing course hosted by Vicky Carter. This course is suitable for those who have worked with clay but would like a greater understanding of what glazing has to offer.

Vicky will assist all students in the group of 12 maximum throughout the session to make improvements, understand techniques and learn the skill of glazing.

Students will work to create test tiles, explore techniques and what materials are available on the market to continue their glazing journey at home or with a membership. They will cover different techniques such as brush-on vs dipping glazes, oxides, trailing, working with resists and some exiting processes such as bubble glazing!

All pieces will be ready to collect in 3 weeks post course and throughout, or they can be posted to the student at a cost of £5.

How it’s made

All ceramics are handmade in our pottery studio in Berkshire, UK. The pottery is made in small batches of around 30 pieces and is carefully formed over a two day period. After the pieces have dried for a week, they are then fired to 1000 degrees Celsius in our kiln. We then mix the glazes from powders before dipping and pouring the ceramics to create beautiful glaze patterns. The ceramics is then fired again to 1260 degrees Celsius.

ing traditional craftsmanship with a modern aesthetic, we bring an art form that’s centuries-old into the present day.

At Charlotte Manser Ceramics, we take pride in using renewable materials and practices to minimize our impact on the environment. By choosing to invest in our products, customers not only acquire one-of-a-kind pieces of pottery, but also support a small business with a mission to create a more ethical future.

Care

Ceramics are fired to 1260 degrees and therefore are suitable to be microwaved or washed in a dishwasher.

Glaze

Each piece is unique and will have different markings within the glaze which are to be embraced.
